Michele De Lucchi
World renown architect and designer, Michele De Lucchi, was born in Ferrara,Italy in 1951. In the '70s and '80s he was an active member of Studio Alchimia and was a pioneer of the use of decorative, geometric motifs on laminated plastic made famous by Memphis. In 1979 he became a consultant to the Ivrea branch of Olivetti, for which he also became Design Director in 1992.
He is most well known for Tolomeo, the best-selling contemporary lamp design in the world, which won him the Compasso d'Oro in 1989. His collaborations include designs for Artemide, Dada Cucine, Kartell, Matsushita, Maser, Alias and Poltrona Frau.
