Mario Mazzer

Born in 1955, Mazzer graduated from the Milan Polytechnic as an Architect in 1978 and in 1979 earned a diploma in Industrial Design from the Polytechnic School of Design. He gained experience in the 70's working with some masters of the Italian Design, and in 1980 opened his studio in Conegliano Veneto, where he started to develop his own personal design language. As an architect Mazzer carries out activities in various sectors, from architecture to industrial design. He has collected a number of prizes. He contributes to the cultural debate on design in conventions and conferences and promotes the made in Italy products through exhibitions of his work. Some of his works have been exhibited in museums. Mario Mazzer received special mentions in 1988-1989 at the “YOUNG & DESIGN” competition, winning it in 1991. He was selected in 1991 for the “DESIGN ET MUTATIONS” exhibition in Paris, for the Ljubljana biennials “BIO XIII, BIO XIV, XV and BIO XVII”, for the “TECNHOTEL” trade fair, and in 1996 with various products for the event “I PROGETTISTI DEL TRIVENETO” (Designers in Triveneto). In recent years he has taken part in various cultural exhibitions, including the ITALIAN DESIGN EXHIBITION, Budapest 1987, “30 ARCHITECTS”, Milan 1990, and “RATTAN: la NATURA è MOBILE” (exhibition of rattan furniture), Milan 1993. His products have been presented in many editions of the cultural events included in “ABITARE IL TEMPO” and the London “DESIGN MUSEUM”. In 1996 Mazzer received an honourable mention from the “ID ANNUAL DESIGN REVIEW”, New York.
In the last two years he has taken part in the itinerant exhibition “SEGNALI DI CIBO” and its related television programmes. He won the “GRANDESIGN” award for the jewellery category and was mentioned in the 5th edition of GRANDESIGN. Finally, two of his products were selected for the ADI DESIGN INDEX ‘98-99. In 2001 a monography was published by the Biblioteca dell'Immagine, entitled “THINKING ABOUT THINGS” – Mario Mazzer, Designer.
In the furniture sector he has worked with different companies, including Acerbis, Bonacina, Bros's, Busnelli Gr. I, I Tre, Magis, Meson's, Morphos, Permasteelisa, Rossi di Albizzate, Varaschin, View, Ycami and Zanotta.
He is a member of ADI, SIE and BEDA. In the building sector, as well as designing numerous showrooms in Italy and abroad, he has frequently worked on industrial and residential buildings.
