Björn Dahlström

Born in 1957 in Stockholm.
Member of Swedish Industrial Designers, SID.
Since 1999 professor at the University College of art, crafts and design in Stockholm.

Working with graphic and product design in the industrial and furniture sector. Began in mid 1970's with animation and graphics for film and TV-productions. From 78 employed as art director and graphic designer in an advertising agency working mainly with printed design.
Started his own company in 1982 concentrating on graphic design for clients like Ericsson, Scania, Atlas Copco etc. Today 80 percent of the work consist of industrial design, among the clients is Primus (torch and soldering equipment), Atlas Copco (product for the building industry), Aqua Play (toys and systems for the waterplay), Playsam (woodentoys), Gewa (electronic handicap aid), Skeppshult (bicycles), Hackman (cookware), Magis (plastic furiture), Plank (wooden furniture), Schopenhauer-Fontana Arte, Mobileffe, Zoltan etc. etc.

Björn Dahlstrom has during the ‘90's successfully started several furniture projects, main client in this sector is obi interior (member of the Swecode-group).
He won a great number of awards like the Excellent Swedish Design Award (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000), Furniture of the year (Sköna Hem. Design Magazine 1995), Design prize Excellent Swedish Design 1996-1997, Honorable mention Excellent Swedish Design 1998 (Hackman cookware), Design Plus Germany 1999 (Hackman cookware), Design Award Finland 1999 (Hackman), Special prize Excellent Swedish Design 2000 (Magis), etc.
He also produced exhibition design and animated videos for several of the above mentioned clients.
He has also been teaching at Beckman's School of Design.
