In 1908 Carl Hansen received his license to trade as a furniture manufacturer. At the end of the 1920s the small company started a co-operation with a few furniture designers with the purpose of manufacturing furniture in series. In 1949 contact to the architect Hans J. Wegner was established, and the inclusion of his classic designs resulted in enormous progress for the company. The machinery went into higher revolutions, sales on the domestic market increased and an export business was started. Today the production is mainly based on Wegner designs. Carl Hansen & Son are represented worldwide throughout Europe, North America, Australia and the Far East.
